Sneak peek at photoshoot with "Cake & All Things Yummy"

This was the cutest bakery/cupcake shop I have ever been in, and the service and atmosphere was spectacular. If you are ever in Kernversiville, NC be sure to stop by “Cake & All Things Yummy” right on main street. You will love it!

HEROS HELPING HEROS

WINE, DINE, & A MIGHTY FINE TIME FUNDRAISER EVENT

Last saturday I had the great opportunity to photograph an event for Heroes Helping Heroes. Heroes Helping Heroes Communities (originally founded as the Seeds of Hope ministry through Quaker Gap Baptist Church of King, N.C.) is a faith based 501c3 organization that was born due to an overwhelming passion to become vehicles of obedience to God’s commandment of care.
WHAT They DO
As of December 31, 2011, this ministry team has served over 75 individual Stokes and Surry County children at no cost to them or their families with its services and programs which consist of their “Souled Out” monthly mentorship program and the annual “Seeds of Hope”summer day camp.
For more information on this group and if you would like to help by sending a donation or to be a mentor go to link:   http://hhhseedsofhope.weebly.com/contact.html

Fundraiser was held at Allison Oaks Vineyards in Yadkinville (http://www.allisonoaksvineyards.com/)

BLAST FROM THE PAST!

Every now and then I like to post some of my work from past photo shoots just to see how I am improving. This helps me to see what I have done right or wrong and what I can do to improve in my future photo shoots. Sometimes I look at them and think, "what was I thinking?", but for the most I can see how I have improved over the years. As a photographer you will never stop learning.

I use to think that I would never improve, but when I look at some of the photos I had taken in the past before I became a photographer, I am amazed. This has always been an encouragement for me and I would think it's the same for any photographer.  I can't say that photography was always a passion for me or at least I don't think, ha! It almost seems it just fell on my lap so to speak. I think we are all born with talents, we just have to discover and cultivate them to be what we are to become.

ONe Way Antiques in King NC

Here I have posted a couple of images from a shoot that didn't go as I had planned. I had intentionally meant to photograph outdoors on this shoot, but it turned out to be a very cold and windy day. Change of plans led me to this old home situated just off of main street in King (http://www.onewayantiques.com/) . Hoping to work on the original ideas for this shoot in the near future.

A time to play, a time to dance, a time to ReSt!

So a friend and I headed to Winston-Salem for a safari texture shoot yesterday. but I couldn't help watching some of the people here in W-S.  I live out in the country and I can't understand the city life and how in the middle of the hustle and bustle you can find a place or time to relax. so it was interesting to find these and to know that you CAN find time and a place to relax even in the middle of the hustle and bustle of life, No Matter where you are!

Matthew 11:28-30  Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Beauty in the midst of a storm

This was taken in Stokes county. I always wanted to stop by and take a picture of this place but had not been by here in a long while. About 2 months ago I happen to go this way and I thought the weather was perfect. Loved the clouds hovering over. Beauty in the midst of a storm.

My online tutor

While on internship on days I don't have much to do, I always try to get in some kind of online photography tutoring. whether it is on photoshop, lighting, or reading about the commercial photography business. Just something to help me further my learning in the photography world. Today I played with adding layers and using masks to add text. uh, something like that!
The image with the candles I took sometime in December 2010 I beleive. I used it here to practice this technique.

5 minute shoot

In our advertising photography class with James we had 2 set ups; one outside and one inside. The setups included 1 strobe, 1 scrim, 1 fill card (for outside), and 1 750 hot light, 1 scrim, 1 fill card (for inside). We had 5 minutes to shoot a dynamic shot. I'm finding out it is difficult to try to do this in such a short time. It usually takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour just to warm up. Hope this is dynamic enough for him. Oh, we had to have 6 dynamic shots for the assignment. Here is one out of my six.

I shot this in the second year studio here at school using my Canon 7d with a long lens at focal length of 150.

Dr. Love

This was shot at my church's Valentine's banquet. I did some portraits but also did some shots for fun. This is Jonathan playing Dr. Love at KCC's 2011 Valentine's Banquet. Thank you Jonathan for a great job done!
